Testimonials

Thank you so much for all the great trainings that our (SNBC) membership opens up for us.  As you probably know, it is very expensive both in travel costs and staff time to send our people off the island for training. SNBC’s online resources and in-person training options are great.

I was fortunate to attend the conference and attend the Trauma in the Shelter Sector workshop. Best-selling author Stevie Cameron was the Keynote speaker.  She was amazing.

“We found the workshop Managing Hostile Interactions training empowering, informational, enlightening and impactful. We could never have had anyone as interesting and as powerful as Mario the SNBC Facilitator. Thank you Shelter Net from all of us.”

“I am a third year nursing student and I took the Mental Health and Addictions II workshop in preparation for my preceptor ship in this field. The SNBC workshop exceeded my expectations by providing worthwhile information that I can use in both my professional nursing career and personal life. I thoroughly enjoyed the course material provided and engaging presentation style by Katherine. Katherine is an excellent educator and her wealth of knowledge and background history was incredibly impressive that I was eager to learn as much as I could from her. I wholeheartedly recommend this workshop to anyone who wishes to focus in Mental Health and Addictions and health care workers looking to increase their knowledge and expertise. I am eagerly looking forward to attending more workshops in the future.”

Greetings

My team unanimously agreed The Trauma Course should be helpful to anyone involved in shelters. Many stated it opened their eyes to the plight of those we serve. The staff can’t stop talking about it, the course material was very relevant as well the instructors bring first hand experiences with them. Many staff have asked if we can take this course in the fall just before most shelters open, I agree and can’t wait.

I never thought I would say this but I absolutely loved Shelter Net’s webinar on Trauma.  It was fabulous.  I can’t believe I can go online and sign myself up for any webinar I want because my employer is a Shelter Net member.  Don’t have to pay anything extra if my agency pays an annual membership fee.  Awesome resource for night workers like me.

“Managing for Improved Performance: 10 Things You Need to Know for Effective HR” was a precise, simple, and a refocusing reminder for me.  I can use this training to maintain my professional HR certification.”

Shelter Net BC’s “Effective Workplace Boundaries” training is now a required webinar that all of our staff must attend.  It’s also helpful to have Shelter Net BC’s recorded webinars available to our staff that can’t attend the live workshops because they work nights or weekends.

Thank you Shelter Net for providing webinars that are loaded with great content.  Being a service provider in a remote part of the province makes it hard to send staff to get the training they need.  Shelter Net’s webinars offer a great alternative to in-person training.  The Effective Workplace Boundaries for the Homeless Sector is a must for anyone working with vulnerable populations.

These days staff sign up for a Shelter Net webinar and we all sit in the programs room and watch in together on a big screen.  After the webinar we talk about what we learned and how we can apply the lesson to our work.  I especially like the handouts that Shelter Net emails to me before the start of a webinar so I can follow along and take notes.  Awesome training.  Thanks Shelter Net!

Shelter Net’s Managing Hostile Interactions workshop is the best training available for conflict resolution stuff.  If you’re agency is a Shelter Net member it doesn’t cost anything extra to send your staff to it.  You’ll be amazed at how much better your staff will be able to handle difficult clients after they’ve taken this workshop.

“Shelter Net BC’s courses go to the point of what I deal with in providing  shelter services to individuals marginalized by homelessness, dealing with self-induced isolation because of being stigmatized, and/or stereotyped by Addiction and Mental Disorders. For example, the “Cross Cultural Awareness” training enhanced my understanding of ‘Culture Clash’ and how sensitivity to one’s cultural imprinting can result in constructive Counsellor/Client interaction characterized by mutual respect, trust, and cooperation.
